FAQ

  1. How many people are required for a team? The ideal team size is 7 to 12 people. Sometimes smaller teams from different churches can be combined or it may be possible for an individual to join an existing team.

  2. What skills are needed by team members to assist in this program?

Computer Skills: Everyone on the team should have a good, basic knowledge of computer software (how to use Word, email, internet, etc.) and be able to teach basic computer skills, either in front of the class or one-on-one.

There should also be at least one (if not more) technical person on the team in case any technical problems with a computer arise. It is also very helpful should someone come to the outreach desiring to talk with a team member with a more in-depth technical background.

Teaching Skills: At least several people on the team should be able to teach in front of the class. This will be done through a translator. Some teams choose 5 people and each one takes one of the five days and teaches the subject with which they feel most comfortable.

Teaching/Preaching: At least one person on the team should feel comfortable giving a daily 5-10 minute Chapel Talk and preaching a 10-15 minute sermon on Sunday in the Ukrainian church.

Although we want to provide the students with useful computer skills that will help them in their personal and work life, the most important message that we want to share with them is the good news of salvation and Jesus’ gift of eternal life. For this reason, it's important for team members to have good relational skills, a servant heart and the desire to reach out to others with Jesus’ love.

  3. Are there age restrictions?

Generally, team members should be at least 18 years old. Exceptions for younger participants may be made at the discretion of eDOT and the team leader based on age and maturity level. Any participant under 18 would need to be accompanied by a parent.

  4. What is taught during the outreach?

The curriculum includes familiarization with the computer, it's components, Word, photo editing, drawing program, and email/internet. Click here for more details. (link to Curriculum document). We have taught these courses as an outreach in a number of locations and have seen the positive impact that they have on the church, its people and in the community for God's Kingdom.

  5. How long is the trip?

You can choose between a one week or two week outreach. Generally for the one week outreach, the team will arrive on a Friday, travel by bus to the city in which the computer center will be set up, and then travel back to the airport with a Sunday or Monday departure back to North America. For 2 week outreaches the dates are flexible. The outreach classes are held Monday - Friday.

  6. What costs are involved?

Airfare: Each team is responsible for arranging and paying for the individual team members' airline tickets. Airfare will be determined by departure city, current airfares, time of year, etc.

    Trip Costs:
    11 day trip - (0ne week of outreach) - $875
15 day trip - (Two weeks of outreach) - $975
(add or subtract $25 for each less or additional day)
This Includes lodging, ground transportation in Ukraine, all meals, and medical travel insurance

Cost of Learning Center: $8,000 (Don't worry – we will load all the software!)

  7. What will happen upon our arrival?

An eDOT team member and our local partners will meet you at the airport and accompany your team to the church at which you will be serving. Your team will conduct a one or two week outreach program for the local community, teaching basic computer skills, as well as bringing the Gospel to many unbelieving Ukrainians who may never have heard the truth about Jesus. Local church members also participate in the outreach and build relationships with non-believers which will continue long after the North American team has gone.

Once your team leaves, the local church continues to use the eLearning Center to offer a wide variety of classes and activities to the community, as well as Distance Learning courses through Bible schools
